News for the Week of November 3, 2013

Here are your weekly church announcements; a couple of highlights:

1.       We will celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism this Sunday at the 9:30 service.

2.       Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night as we return to Standard Time.  Enjoy an extra hour of sleep!

3.       If you live north of Unionville, keep in mind some roads will be closed for the Angus Glen Marathon on Sunday and you will want to plan an alternate route.

4.       The turkey dinner is just two weeks away so be sure to get your tickets.  We are also looking for more volunteers to provide desserts and cook turkeys – sign up on my bulletin board.  Many hands make light work!

5.       Next Sunday, November 10th, the UCW will have a repeat of their Homemade Pie Sale.  (Pies can be purchased to bring to the turkey dinner if you wish!)

And finally, on a personal note, I wish to thank all of you who were able to attend and/or send along good wishes for the celebration of my 20 years of work here at Central at last Sunday’s coffee hour.  It was a complete surprise and very much appreciated.

News for the Week of October 27, 2013

Here are your weekly church announcements.  You will note that we are having both a coffee hour and pie sale between the 9:30 and 11:15 worship servicesthis Sunday.  Come early or stay late to enjoy the fellowship and get your homemade fruit pies!

We have had a successful start to our Small Groups this week with over 90 people participating.  What a great way to study your faith and enjoy time with your church family!  Thank you to all the leaders and hosts for making this all possible.

There are just two weeks left in the annual Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Shoe Box program.  If you would like to be involved in this outreach project, be sure to pick up your box at the church and then you can go shopping and have fun filling it!

And finally, the turkey dinner will be here in less than three weeks so be sure to get your tickets!  The roster of volunteers is filling in nicely but we still need several more dessert makers and turkey roasters.  Check out the sign up sheets soon!  All help is gratefully appreciated.

Looking forward to seeing many of you on Sunday!

Here are your weekly announcements.  You will note that this Sunday, October 20th we return to two worship services at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m.  We will also celebrate the launch of our Small Group program with a Coffee Hour in the main hall between services.  So stay late or come early to enjoy fellowship and refreshments with your church family.

I also remind you that this Saturday, October 19th we will hold a Memorial Service for Hazel Balcarras at the church at 1 p.m.  Hazel (and her late husband Jack) were longtime members of Central and former residents of Wyndham Gardens and, in more recent years, of Union Villa.

And another sad note:  church member Reg Gray, formerly of Swan Lake/Amica and more recently of Sunnybrook Veterans’ Wing, passed away yesterday at the age of 92.  Visitation will be held at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home (Woodbine Avenue) tomorrow, Friday, October 18th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with the funeral service, conducted by Rev. Dr. James Clubine, on Saturday, October 19th at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  See for more details.
