News for the Week of December 28, 2014

Christmas is almost here and we will celebrate at Central on Christmas Eve with our traditional 3 worship services: 5 p.m. includes a special children’s feature; 7 & 10:30 p.m. each include the Sacrament of Communion and the Light of the World candlelighting with the singing of Silent Night. I truly hope that many of you and your family can join us as we rejoice in the birth of the Christ Child.

Our Sunday services will continue on December 28th and January 4th, both at 10 a.m. Your announcements relative to December 28th are attached. (Please note that Sunday, December 28th will be the final Sunday in which offerings will be credited for a 2014 income tax receipt.)

News for the Week of December 14, 2014

Here are your weekly announcements for your reading pleasure.  This Sunday is our annual Christmas Musical(at the regular service time of 10:00 a.m.) so be sure to attend.  Sarah Wyse and the choir have been rehearsing very hard and I expect it will be a real Christmas treat!  The children are welcome to remain in church to hear the music or attend Sunday School (which will begin at 10 a.m.).  There will be no Children’s storytime in the service.

Now I have a favour to ask:  we are looking for someone to serve as the “greeter” on Christmas Eve at the10:30 p.m. service.  If you planning to attend that service, would you kindly let me know if you would be available to stand at the door, greet people and give them a bulletin?  Thanks in advance.

And finally, some sad news to share.  Longtime church member Jean Cuthbertson suffered the death of her sister, Shirley Ingleton this past week.  Our sympathies to Jean and her family.  The obituary and funeral details can be found at http://glenoaks.sharingmemories.ca/site/ShirleyAnneIngleton.html?s=40

AND the folks scheduled to serve this Sunday are:

Here are your weekly church announcements.  Be sure to read about all the happenings at Central this busy Advent season!  A couple of highlights:

  1. Tomorrow is the Annual Unionville Parade and all are invited to join us as we parade down Main Street to the church (for hot chocolate and cookies and some carol singing).  We will meet in front of the Varley Art Gallery at 6:40 p.m. In keeping with the theme of our upcoming 175th Anniversary, please wear old-fashioned clothing if you can.  (Please note Main Street will be closed to traffic from Library Lane to Station Lane after 5:30 p.m.)
  1. Sunday is White Gift Sunday and your cash gifts or unwrapped food items are most appreciated.  They will be received during the service.  This will be a Sunday School/youth led service with a very special children’s time/family time with some surprises.  Families are encouraged to attend. Coffee Hour will follow in the narthex.
  1. Our Annual Comfort Service, for those who find Christmas difficult, will be Sunday evening at 7 p.m. Feel free to invite friends and family who would benefit from such a service.
