FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
The church in many parts of our world will celebrate Palm Sunday this coming Sunday, marking the beginning of Holy Week. On Sunday we follow our Lord’s westward journey down the Mount of Olives and his entrance into Jerusalem amidst the cheering pilgrims who had come from Galilee. While we refer to it as Jesus’ triumphal entry, it wasn’t much of a triumph by world standards. Pilate who was coming to the city from the east enjoyed a military entourage much more in keeping with someone who triumphs. Two kings meet in Jerusalem on that Passover—Pilate and Jesus. The gospel claims that Jesus is the true king of the universe. It is worth noting that the reason we speak the name of this Roman governor Pilate still today is because of his encounter with Jesus. As you prepare for Palm Sunday worship I invite you to take a look at this short video, Experience The Mount Of Olives.
IN-PERSON WORSHIP
Central United Church has resumed it’s in-person Worship Services and we would love to have you join us in person Sunday morning.
Sunday’s service will also still be available to watch via livestreaming at 10:00 am and is recorded for later viewing, through the Church website. To watch live or view a recording later, go to the Church website, scroll down and click on Central United’s Live Stream Page or click here. A copy of the bulletin for this Sunday’s Service is attached here.
This Sunday’s Scripture readings are Isaiah 50:4-9a, Philippians 2:5-11, and Luke 19:28-40. You can also find a daily scripture message at the top of our website.
