A few reminders for this week Aug. 30 – Sept. 5, 2021

Their admiration was unbounded, and they said, ‘Everything he does is good, he makes the deaf hear and the dumb speak.’ (Mark 7:37, Revised New Jerusalem Bible). In this election season most political candidates would love to read such an uplifting news report said about them after a campaign stop. Of course, this was said of Jesus during his days of ministry. People were blown away by his ‘sheer goodness.’ Yes, the marvel of curing deafness and enabling the mute to speak stand out, but it is much more than this. It is in his character, in everything he touches, in what and how he speaks—there is just something about Jesus—‘Everything he does is good!’ This word translated ‘good’ is also used to mean ‘beautiful, profitable, excellent, choice, select, honorable;’ you get the picture. This is why I love the RNJB translation that characterizes peoples’ response as, “their admiration was unbounded.” The joy is that Jesus is among us today and we too can experience his goodness.
We have now moved into Step 3 of the “RoadMap to Reopen”. In this new phase there are no percentage capacity limits, but physical distancing and masks are still required. To view the guidelines at Central United, please click here.
