A few reminders for this week Aug. 9 – Aug. 15, 2021

FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
“O taste and see that the Lord is good,” writes the Psalmist. We have this tendency to compartmentalize life and think of the spiritual life as a periphery thing—it is to be personal and private what we go to do on Sunday. Thinking thus, we limit Jesus to what we consider religious activity. The gospel does not see life this way—everything is spiritual because the human is a spiritual being. Jesus said to his disciples, “I have called you friends.” I wonder if we have sold Jesus short—this friendship with God permeates into every aspect of our lives and we find the Psalmist is correct—when we taste Him we do find that the Lord is good.
IN-PERSON WORSHIP
We have now moved into Step 3 of the “RoadMap to Reopen”. In this new phase there are no percentage capacity limits, but physical distancing and masks are still required. To view the guidelines at Central United, please click here.

FAMILY NEWS
THANK YOU to our Church Family
From my Family and I, it’s hard to put into words the gratitude we feel for your prayers, cards, calls, emails and meals in the past few months as I went through surgery and radiation.  I am happy to share with you that I am feeling well again and looking forward to good health ahead.

CLARA FRANCES WELLS
1928 – 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clara Frances Wells on July 26, 2021 in her 93rd year. Clara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her large, extended family in Ontario and Newfoundland and by her friends in Heritage Village.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street, Markham this Saturday, August 14th from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. Due to Covid restrictions the 1:00 pm Chapel Service will be by invitation only. A private family burial will be held immediately following the service.
We are grateful for our Saviour’s promise to welcome Clara home with Him. Please remember the Wells family in your prayers.
