FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
Our guest minister this Sunday will be Rev. Christina Ng. Christina has been pastoring for 20 years. She obtained her Master of Divinity from Tyndale Seminary in 2003, and was ordained by CBOQ (Canadian Baptists of Ontario & Quebec) in 2012. She is also a Certified Spiritual Director with a Doctor of Ministry degree in Spiritual Direction from Fuller Theological Seminary in California since 2019.
SUNDAY WORSHIP 10:00 A.M.
Central United Church welcomes you to join our Worship Service Sunday mornings at 10:00 am. In worship we proclaim our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour; God’s word is read and preached, sacraments celebrated, faith sung and prayers offered.
Sunday services are also livestreamed (and recorded) through the Church website or you can join here. A copy of the bulletin for this Sunday’s Service is attached here.
This Sunday’s Scripture readings are 1 Kings 19:9-18, Romans 10:5-15 and Matthew 14:22-33. You can also find a daily scripture message at the top of our website.
FINANCE COMMITTEE UPDATE
For the 1st half of 2023, we are happy to report that offerings are about $7000 higher than budgeted! Rent and other interest income are $5000 higher than budgeted (due to additional rentals and higher interest rates).
However, expenses are $8000 over budget – some of that is just timing; however, there was also the need for an unbudgeted new insurance appraisal.
Bottom-line, for the first half, we had an operating surplus of $1,700 versus a projected deficit of $11,000! These solid results allowed us to approve a music conference for Sarah, as well as accelerate our search for a Sunday School lead.
Thank you for your continuing financial support of the Church! Let’s keep it up. Please see Scott Wetmore or Lindsay Duffield if you have any questions.
