FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
… you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21) Perhaps, like me, you have been asking the question, ‘what do you want for Christmas?’ We want to give a gift that will delight the recipient. In the story the Bible tells of Christmas, God doesn’t ask us what we want for Christmas. If God did ask what would we say? And if we listed all the things we wanted would ‘someone to save us from our sin” be on our list? No, God doesn’t ask what we want. God gives us what he knows we truly need. A Saviour. This doesn’t mean that God is uninterested in those other things on our list, rather, in the Saviour God gives us everything else.

CHRISTMAS EVE & CHRISTMAS DAY
WORSHIP SERVICES
We would like to remind everyone about our upcoming Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Services. We will celebrate with two Christmas Eve services at 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m; come and enjoy carols, choir and the reading of the story of the birth of our Saviour. The Christmas Day service will take place at 10:00 am. At all services we will share in the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
FINANCIAL AND STEWARDSHIP UPDATED
Through October 2022, the Church had an operating deficit (expenses > income) of -$22,623. While this is slightly better than originally budgeted, we now have some unplanned expenditures regarding the Strategic Planning project, which will increase this deficit.
Central United strives for a “balanced budget”. We encourage you to look at your givings to date and consider any additional donations by year-end. December is always a big month for donations and we hope even better in our first “Post Covid” Christmas season, with many more people attending services in-person.
If you would like an up to date balance of your YTD givings, please contact Sharlene in the church office who will put you in contact with the envelope secretary.
Thank you for your generous support.
