A few reminders for this week Dec. 28 – Jan. 3, 2021

FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
It may be that we wish one another “Happy New Year” cautiously as we look to 2021—hoping that a vaccination will lead to brighter days.  British poet Minnie Louise Haskins published a small volume of poetry titled The Desert in 1907 to raise funds for her work with the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society in India. Included in that volume was a poem she titled “God Knows;” a poem made famous in 1939 when England’s King George VI read a portion of it as part of his Christmas radio broadcast. I commend her poem to you as we look forward to the year 2021, which reminds us that our Lord walks with us in all that will unfold.

“I said to the man who stood at the Gate of the Year.
Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.
And he replied, ‘Go out into the darkness, and put your hand into the hand of God.’
That shall be to you better than light, and safer than a known way.”
CENTRAL UNITED IN-PERSON WORSHIP SUSPENDED
Effective December 14, 2020, York Region has moved to lockdown due to Covid-19. Central United Church will continue with it’s livestreaming of Sunday Services but in-person worship will temporarily be on hold until the end of lockdown, which is currently scheduled for Monday, January 11th. However, this date may change and we will keep you posted as to when in-person services will resume.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we endeavor to work together to make our worship both safe and meaningful during this unusual time.
