A few reminders for this week Feb. 13 to Feb. 19, 2023

FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK

The Englishman Joseph Oldham wrote, “There are some things in life—and they may be the most important things—that we cannot know by research or reflection, but only by committing ourselves. We must dare in order to know.” Friendship is like this. You must commit yourself to be a friend in order to have a friend. You have to dare in order to know. There were people who, upon hearing Jesus preach, demanded proof or a sign. Prove your claim that you are the Son of God. Jesus never acquiesces to these demands for proof. Why? Oldham said it, “there are important things in life that can only be known by committing ourselves.” For the committed Jesus makes himself known in such a way as to render proof unnecessary. For the uncommitted no proof is ever sufficient.
