A few reminders for this week Feb. 6 to Feb. 12, 2023

FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK

Happy are those who keep his decrees, who seek him with their whole heart. (Psalm 119:2) Almost all of the 176 verses of Psalm 119 contain one of eight terms that denote God’s word or commandments. Hence, it is often called the Psalm of the ‘book’, but that may be misleading. The repeated occurrences of so many terms brings out the importance and richness of a particular theme. This theme is the truth that God speaks; the tradition that it is the Lord who guides and commands his people; the God who is desirous to bless them with life by showing them the right path. Not the commandment itself, but the guiding, teaching Lord comes to dominate the mind of the one who studies God’s word. Engaging with the scriptures in faith is to hear our Lord’s voice.
