FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
Psalm 36 begins with a frank description of the wickedness of human sin. “Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in their hearts,” writes the Psalmist, “there is no fear of God before their eyes. … They plot mischief while on their beds; they are set on a way that is not good; they do not reject evil.” Perhaps like me you are tired of fraud and deceit; voice recorded phone calls about a problem with my tax account, emails requesting that I follow the supplied weblink to “fix” an account, text messages telling me a package will be returned unless I update information. In the middle section the Psalmist extols the wonders of the steadfast love of God. While realistic about the world we live in, the Psalmist holds up the steadfast love of the Lord as both the opposite of those who seek to harm and the hope in a world full of mischief and deceit. Against what seems the tireless pursuit of fraud and deception, the Psalmist joyfully proclaims, looking to God, ‘For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.” (Psalm 36:9)
IN-PERSON WORSHIP
We have temporarily moved to a Modified Step 2 of the “RoadMap to Reopen”. In this phase we are limited to 50 per cent capacity. Physical distancing and masks are still required. This means no change for Central United as we are continuing to follow masking and social distancing protocols which put us well under the 50% capacity limit.
