FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness. (Matthew 9:35) Please take note of the ‘and’ that I highlighted in this text of scripture. You notice that proclamation of the gospel and compassion go together; that announcement of the good news and the relieving of human suffering are joined as far as Jesus is concerned. We see this same joining together in our Lord’s sending out of his 12 apostles: “As you go, proclaim the good news, “The kingdom of heaven has come near.” Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons.” (Matthew 10:7-8) A compassionless gospel is a contradiction of the good news and truth-deficient compassion a distortion of it as well.
SUNDAY WORSHIP 10:00 A.M.
Central United Church welcomes you to join our Worship Service Sunday mornings at 10:00 am. In worship we proclaim our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour; God’s word is read and preached, sacraments celebrated, faith sung and prayers offered.
Sunday services are also livestreamed (and recorded) through the Church website or you can join here. A copy of the bulletin for this Sunday’s Service is attached here.
This Sunday’s Scripture readings are Exodus 19:2-8a; Romans 5:1-8 and Matthew 9:35-10:8. You can also find a daily scripture message at the top of our website.
