FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
Most of us have received fraudulent emails that appear to be from a trusted friend but are, in fact, from someone masquerading as that friend. The goal of such communication is to defraud. This coming Sunday is Trinity Sunday—the celebration of God’s revealing of God’s self as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This truth about God tells us that God doesn’t masquerade. God has revealed himself in such a way as to disclose that what God is in himself God is toward us. In other words, when Jesus pours out his love for us in his self-forgetful, self-giving on the cross we can know that who God has shown himself to be in his saving act in Jesus is who he is eternally in himself. God doesn’t pretend to be your friend in Jesus all the while plotting something else. Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all on the same page; God really does love us.
SUNDAY WORSHIP
Central United Church welcomes you to our Worship Service Sunday morning at 10:00 am and we would love to have you join us. We rejoice that we can worship together and give thanks, offering prayer and lifting our voices in song.
Sunday services will also still be available to watch via livestreaming at 10:00 am through the Church website. To watch live or view a recording later, go to the Church website, scroll down and click on Central United’s Live Stream Page or click here. A copy of the bulletin for this Sunday’s Service is attached here.
This Sunday’s Scripture readings are Proverbs 8:1-4, 22-31, Romans 5:1-5 and John 16:12-15. You can also find a daily scripture message at the top of our website.
STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE
TO BE LAUNCHED
Recognizing that there is an urgent need to plan for the future of the Congregation, its mission, and its ministries, your Church Council has launched a Strategic Planning Committee. The purpose of the Committee is to seek input from the Council and the Congregation to develop a plan for the Congregation for the next 10 years. This committee is now looking for people from across a broad range of the Congregation to join in this critically important work. Please prayerfully consider and notify Doug Stirling (dkstirling@gmail.com) by Friday, June 17th if you will participate in this.
LEMONADE ON THE LAWN
A BIG THANK you to all those who have signed up for Lemonade on the Lawn. It is gratifying to know that these are important parts of our church to the fellowship of our congregation. We also would like to encourage others to step forward in the coming months to take part. Sign up sheets are located on the bulletin board outside the Friendship room in the Narthex. Please consider this, so that we can all enjoy the physical reconnection with old and new friends in our church.
If you have any questions you may contact Kathy Hoy by email at krhoy@rogers.com. Your service to the church will be appreciated by all!
GREETERS
Thank you to each of you that has volunteered to be a greeter. For anyone still wishing to volunteer, whether you would like to be on a call list or would like to commit any weeks, please sign up on the bulletin board beside the Friendship room or contact Cynthia Yee by email at cyee88@outlook.com.
