A few reminders for this week June 8 – June 14, 2020

the life of your church….!

FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
The Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans gives us a vision of what Paul thought he was trying to achieve by his Apostolic labours. Paul believed that it was his vocation, rooted in Israel’s scriptures, to announce that the promises and purposes of Israel’s God had been fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Indeed, Romans provides a syllabus of topics to expound. However, if this book were to be summarized and put on a banner at the front of the church, it might read, as one theologian suggested; “God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.” The Lectionary epistle readings in the coming summer months are taken from Paul’s letter to the Romans and will be the focus of our summer sermons at Central. This coming Sunday we begin the series probing this text—”But God proves his love for us.”

ONLINE SUNDAY WORSHIP, June 14th
This past week the Ontario Government stated, regarding the reopening of houses of worship, that Faith is a source of comfort and an important aspect of the lives of many people across Ontario.,” and that “all places of worship in Ontario will also be permitted to open with physical distancing in place and attendance limited to no more than 30 per cent of the building capacity to ensure the safety of worshippers.”

Church Leadership is working on plans for this reopening process in accordance with these government guidelines. Please stay tuned for details. Our plan includes continuing the livestreaming of our Sunday worship as permanent part of the ministry of Central United Church.
This Sunday’s service will be available to watch via live streaming at 10:00 am and is recorded for later viewing, through the Church website. To watch live or view a recording later, go to the Church website, scroll down and click on Central United’s Live Stream Page or click here. A copy of the bulletin for this Sunday’s Service is attached here. We suggest, for joining the live stream, that you tune in early. You are encouraged to have your bible handy and please note that the text of this Sunday’s Sermon will be available on our Church website prior to Service time. This Sunday’s Scripture readings are Genesis 18:1-15, 21:1-7, Romans 5:1-8 and Matthew 9:35-10:8. You can also find a daily scripture message at the top of our website.

MEMORIAL DONATION FOR VALERIE CLUBINE
Your Worship Committee has organized a special donation memorial fund on behalf of Valerie Clubine. As a lasting beautification project for our sanctuary, the purchase of 14 gel filled candelabra candles has been prepared in her memory. Valerie’s faith, commitment and passion to beautify environments was her essence. Therefore we felt that this fitting tribute of permanent candle illumination would be lovely way to honour her memory.
If you wish to contribute, please indicate ”CANDLES” on your memorial donation.
Thank you and blessings to all.
