A few reminders for this week Mar. 28 – Apr. 3, 2022

Judging by the number of advertisements that appear in an internet search of ‘home fragrance,’ odors matter. There is a biblical story about home fragrance. It was when Mary took a pound of costly perfume and anointed Jesus’ feet, and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. What is the fragrance of Mary’s act? Jesus, knowing Mary’s heart said “she bought it so that she might keep it for the day of my burial.” The gospel writer Luke tells us of another occasion when Jesus was at Mary’s home. On that occasion Mary “sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying.” We are to understand that this was typical of Mary. She is a disciple who drinks in all that our Lord would teach. The gospel writers tell us that at this point in Jesus’ ministry his foretelling that ‘he must undergo great suffering, and be rejected, and be killed, and on the third day be raised,’ had become a main staple of his teaching. Mary seems to have taken his teaching to heart. Our Lord’s suffering, rejection, crucifixion, and resurrection ever remains what our Lord would teach us. May we, like Mary, take it to heart.
Capacity limits on religious services, rites or ceremonies have been lifted along with mandatory face mask requirements and passive screening requirements. To view the guidelines at Central United, please click here.
The decorating committee will once again be delivering Easter Baskets to our shut-ins during Holy Week. Donations in support of this project are appreciated; just mark your offering envelope “Easter Baskets”. If you wish to make your donation in memory of a loved one please e-mail the church office or give a note to Sharlene by April 10th with the wording that you wish used for the Easter Sunday bulletin.
If you would like to help with delivery and a short visit please e-mail

The Outreach Committee has chosen “The Salvation Army” as the 2022 Lenten Project. The Salvation Army is a Christian organization that gives hope and support to vulnerable people. They provide housing, shelter, and other social services to those in need in our community. Financial donations will be accepted throughout the season of Lent up to and including Easter Sunday. If you wish to donate, you can either drop off your donations at the Church or mail them to the church. Cheques should be payable to the Central United Church.
