A few reminders for this week May 1 to May 7, 2023

FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK

Jesus said that he came “not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:28) The much anticipated coronation of King Charles III is to take place this Saturday morning. During the coronation service the monarch is presented with objects representing their powers and responsibilities. This is called the investiture. Among the objects is the Sovereign’s Orb, a golden globe representing the world surmounted by a cross. It reminds the monarch that their power is derived from God—that they serve someone greater than themselves. The cross of Christ also teaches that the leaders are inherently those who serve. In your prayers for leaders, elected and appointed, pray that they may know they serve God with their leadership.

SUNDAY WORSHIP 10:00 A.M.

Central United Church welcomes you to join our Worship Service Sunday mornings at 10:00 am. In worship we proclaim our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour; God’s word is read and preached, sacraments celebrated, faith sung and prayers offered.

Sunday services are also livestreamed (and recorded) through the Church website or you can join here. A copy of the bulletin for this Sunday’s Service is attached here.

This Sunday’s Scripture readings are Acts 7:55-60; 1 Peter 2:2-10 and John 14:1-14. You can also find a daily scripture message at the top of our website.
