A few reminders for this week May 31 – June 6, 2021

FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
News of the discovery of unmarked graves of children on the sites of Canada’s Indian Residential Schools dominated news outlets this week. There are no easy answers in knowing how to respond to this, another tear-stained blood-soaked page in this painful history. In Psalm 130 we read, ‘with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him great power to redeem.’ Let us pray for our leaders in taking appropriate steps to ensure identification of these remains; let us pray for our Indigenous leaders and people; let us pray that our own hearts would reflect God’s love in purging racist attitudes. May God’s great power to redeem revealed in our Lord’s self-forgetful self-giving at the cross guide our footsteps with His loving regard for all humanity.

FAMILY NEWS
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Bette) Waller, loving wife of John on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the age of 87. Bette passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She had the ideal life and passed away with no regrets, but will be missed by so many.
A Celebration of Life has been postponed due to Covid restrictions. The family has specified there is no need for flowers or donations but happy memories are welcome here.
We are grateful that our sorrows are borne in the hope of our Saviour’s love for Bette and for us. Please remember the Waller family in your prayers.
PASTORAL CARE
Should you become aware of any illness, bereavement, hospitalization, etc., among people of our church, please notify the church office as soon as possible.
