A few reminders for this week May 6 to May 12, 2024

FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK

While Jesus was blessing them, he withdrew from them and was carried up into heaven. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. (Luke 24:51-52) Today, in the church’s calendar, is Ascension Day. Forty days after his resurrection, Jesus ascends to the right hand of the Father where he makes intercession for us. Luke also tells us that following Jesus’ ascension the disciples returned to Jerusalem with great joy. The disciples did not experience Jesus’ withdrawal to heaven as abandonment. Think of it this way; Jesus withdraws from a single location on the earth to that place where he can be present everywhere with us. Rejoice in his presence with you wherever life takes you this day!

SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP 10:00 A.M.

Central United Church welcomes you to join our Worship Service Sunday mornings at 10:00 am. In worship we proclaim our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour; God’s word is read and preached, sacraments celebrated, faith sung and prayers offered.

Sunday services are also livestreamed (and recorded) through the Church website or you can join here. A copy of the bulletin for this Sunday’s Service is attached here.

This Sunday’s Scripture readings are Acts 1:1-11, Ephesians 1:15-23 and Luke 24:44-53. You can also find a daily scripture message at the top of our website.

MOTHER’S DAY FLOWER VASE

UCW MEETING

Tuesday, May 14th

On Tuesday, May 14th at 12:30 pm the May UCW Meeting will be held in the main hall. Joan Wilson will discuss the hazards of renting a new furnace etc. We invite you to join us.

LEMONADE ON THE LAWN

Beginning Sunday, May 26th

Summer is coming and Lemonade on the Lawn will resume for the Sundays late May through to the end of August this year.

However, the only way this can happen is if you, our congregation, supports this by signing up for the weeks you are able to assist with set up, pouring and clean up each week. This is a very easy task as all supplies will be available at the church. Sign up sheets are located on the bulletin board outside the Friendship room in the Narthex. Please consider this, so that we can all enjoy the physical reconnection with old and new friends in our church.

Please check your calendars and commit to a week or two that will work for you! If you have any questions you may contact Kathy Hoy by email at kathyhoy5@gmail.com. Your service to the church will be appreciated by all!
