FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
Jesus said, “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” This Sunday we will mark as Remembrance, honouring the men and women who have served, and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace. In the Hebrew scriptures remembering is much more than a calling to mind something lest we forget. It is to live now in the reality of the event remembered. The Jewish people remembered the Exodus from slavery living that freedom in the present reality of their lives. We honour those whose served our country in the great wars by living now in the freedom won then. As we take the Sacrament of Holy Communion this Sunday and remember our Lord’s sacrifice we honour him by living now in the reality of this freedom from sin that he won for us at the cross.

SAMARITAN’S PURSE – Christmas Shoebox
Our Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Shoebox Outreach event is well underway. This is an opportunity to share our love and give joy and hope to needy children in the world. You can participate by packaging a shoebox yourself or if you’d prefer Samaritan’s Purse to pack a box for you, you can do so with a $40.00 donation, just visit their website here.
The campaign runs for six weeks ending on Sunday, November 14th. Shoeboxes, brochures and shopping lists are now available at the church and can be picked up Sundays after church service or during the week. The church office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.
Let’s support this great initiative again this year to bring joy to a needy child. What a wonderful way to share Jesus’ love.
