FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
“But the Lord hurled a great wind upon the sea.” (Jonah 1:4) If you had an employee who, like Jonah, did the exact opposite of what you commissioned him to do; who you found sleeping on the job; who did everything one could imagine in order to be fired from that commission; how long would that person remain in your employ? “But the Lord.” Thank God for, “but the Lord!” The Lord does not fire Jonah, rather, the Lord does everything in his power to turn Jonah around. Who among us would be a believer if we were left to our own devices? Every believer knows that ‘but for the Lord’ things would be different for us.

RETURN TO OFFERING IN SERVICE
AND SEATED COMMUNION
As our church is transitioning to our normal services after COVID, we are once again passing the offering plates during our services. Seated communion with bread and juice will commence on Remembrance Day Sunday.
As usual, we will require volunteers to pass the offering plates during the services as well as communion servers when applicable. Please consider helping with these important service activities. Sign up sheets are posted on the bulletin board.
We continue to thank all those who volunteer their services for the betterment of our church worship and members.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS
SCOUTS CANADA APPLE DAY
This Sunday is Scouts Canada Apple Day. Apple Day is their traditional fundraising event where they receive donations and present an apple in appreciation. This year the scouts have asked permission to have their apple day event outside the church, so this Sunday after church service you’ll find them located outside the church should you wish to make a donation.
SAMARITAN’S PURSE – Christmas Shoebox
Our Christmas “Shoebox” campaign is well underway. This is an opportunity to share our love and give joy and hope to needy children in the world. You can participate by packaging a shoebox yourself or if you’d prefer Samaritan’s Purse to pack a box for you, you can do so with a $40.00 donation, just visit their website here.
The campaign runs for six weeks ending on Sunday, November 13th. Shoeboxes, brochures and shopping lists are now available at the church and can be picked up Sundays after church service or during the week. The church office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.
Let’s support this great initiative again this year to bring joy to a needy child. What a wonderful way to share Jesus’ love.
