FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
“Who is God?” Scripture never answers this question directly. Scripture answers this question indirectly by posing two other questions. “What does God do on our behalf? What does God effect within us?” What does God do for us? He incarnates Himself in Jesus of Nazareth (which always includes what he has done through Israel). He redeems His creation in the death of Jesus, restoring its access to Him. He raises Jesus from the dead, vindicating Jesus and declaring him to be sovereign over all, Lord and Messiah. What does God do in us? He visits us with His Spirit and seals within us all that He has done outside us. He steals over our spiritual inertia and quickens faith. He forgives the sin in us that He had already absorbed for us on the cross. He brings us to submit to the sovereign One whose sovereignty He had declared by raising him from the dead. In short, the God who acts for us in His Son acts in us by His Spirit so that all the blessings provided in the Son may become ours as well.

SAMARITAN’S PURSE – Christmas Shoebox
Our Christmas “Shoebox” campaign is well underway. This is an opportunity to share our love and give joy and hope to needy children in the world. You can participate by packaging a shoebox yourself or if you’d prefer Samaritan’s Purse to pack a box for you, you can do so with a $40.00 donation, just visit their website here.
The campaign runs for six weeks ending on Sunday, November 13th. Shoeboxes, brochures and shopping lists are now available at the church and can be picked up Sundays after church service or during the week. The church office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.
