Events surrounding the mourning of Queen Elizabeth II dominates news media in Commonwealth countries and beyond. Today the coffin is at Westminster Hall where Queen Elizabeth lies in state; the place where the public are allowed to file past and pay their respects. News reports note that the line of people waiting is 4 kilometers long. A wonderful book about Queen Elizabeth’s faith was published in 2016 by the Bible Society, HOPE and the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity. It is titled The Servant Queen – and the King she serves. This unique book published uses the Queen’s own words to draw out the central role of her trust in Jesus Christ. It is designed to be a conversation starter—perhaps a book you might have on display in your home. I commend the book to you and you can read it online here.
SUNDAY WORSHIP
Central United Church welcomes you to our Worship Service Sunday morning at 10:00 am and we would love to have you join us. We rejoice that we can worship together and give thanks, offering prayer and lifting our voices in song.

SMALL GROUPS FALL BIBLE STUDY
The Book of Jonah by Eric Mason
October 16 thru November 21, 2022
This six week study “reveals how God uses extraordinary circumstances to break our hearts of selfishness, convince us of His tender care, and unite our lives to His glory.”
In-person groups and virtual groups will be offered at various times through the week. Registration will begin the week of September 25 with sign-up sheets in the Narthex for in-person groups and on-line registration for virtual groups only. We hope that you can join us in study and fellowship!

BIBLE STUDY FELLOWSHIP at CENTRAL
BEGINNING MONDAY SEPTEMBER 12
Central is pleased to continue offering the Bible Study Fellowship for men beginning Monday September 12th. https://www.bsfinternational.org/
This year the study is titled: People of the Promise: Divided Kingdom. We will again be meeting Monday evenings at 7 PM initially over Zoom, with in-person meetings planned to be available later.
This is open to all men in the community, not just those from Central. Please consider it and also invite others to look into it. The same program for Women and Youth is also available locally. SAMARITAN’S PURSE – Christmas Shoebox
This year we will once again be participating in the Samaritan’s Purse initiative as one of our Christmas Outreach events. You can participate by packaging a shoebox yourself or if you’d prefer Samaritan’s Purse to pack a box for you, you can do so with a $40.00 donation, just visit their website here.
The official start date is Sunday, Oct. 2nd and runs for six weeks until Sunday, November 13th. Once we receive the shoeboxes, brochures and shopping lists you will be notified and they will be available for pick up Sundays after church service or during the week. The church office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.
Let’s support this great initiative again this year to bring joy to a needy child. What a wonderful way to share Jesus’ love.
WEEKLY PRAYER MEETING & TIME OF FELLOWSHIP
Please come and join the Thursday prayer meeting tonight at 7:00 pm. After the prayer time we have some time for fellowship to allow us to catch up with each other a little. The meeting is held using the Zoom technology. Please join 10 minutes before the 7:00 PM start time.
