You will note that Sunday is “Teen Confirmation Sunday”. This service is always one of the highlights of worship at Central. We will have five teens confirming their faith and giving their testimonials. Be sure to join us in welcoming them formally into the membership of the church.

Remembering Ross Frederick Andrews (December 10, 1927 – February 25, 2013)
(Chiropractor in Orillia for 38 years, Life-Long Member of St. Paul’s United Church, Past President of Orillia Rotary Club, Member of Champlain Seniors Service Club.) With sadness, Ross’ family wishes to announce his gentle passing at Trillium Manor, Orillia on Monday, February 25, 2013. He was in his 86th year. Ross was the beloved husband of Evelyn (Strachan) for 60 years and cherished father of Cathy and husband Eric Sayle, Susan and husband Tom Fyfe, and Allison and husband Carl Garland. He was adored by his grandchildren Timothy (Nicole) and Hilary Sayle, Rebecca and Meredith Fyfe, Alexandra Andrews, Bonnie and Sam Garland. His first great-grandchild is Henry Conner Sayle. Ross is survived by his sister June Litster (Len) and brothers-in-law Robert Strachan (Joyce), Murray Strachan (June), Lloyd Strachan (Ulrike), Stuart Strachan (Joan) and sister-in-law Carol Beaver. He was loved and respected by many nieces and nephews. Ross’ passion for music began with his first clarinet lesson at age 10 and continued until he played his last saxophone solo at age 82. His love for the Big Band sound grew while playing in The Andrews Orchestra, founded by his parents Charles and Anne Andrews. Over the years, he shared his musical talent with a host of local musical groups including the Orillia Kiltie Band, Orillia Concert Band, Huronia Symphony Orchestra and Champlain Music Makers, among others. He was also the leader of the Swing Band which supported many charitable organizations. In 2000, Ross was presented with the Senior Achievement Award by the Lieutenant-Governor on behalf of the Province of Ontario in honour of his time spent with student musicians at Couchiching Heights P.S. The family gives special thanks to the staff at Trillium Manor for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595 on Sunday, March 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Ross’ life will be held on Monday, March 4th at St. Paul’s United Church, 62 Peter St. N., Orillia, at 1 p.m. If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s United Church, Orillia, The Alzheimer Society or the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
