FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
“Holy Week is the most sacred time in the Christian calendar. I know people find it to be a bit of a downer, but it is the time when we can see just how deeply Jesus understands our own trials, challenges and suffering. I don’t think we can truly grasp the full joy of Easter unless we spend this time with Jesus in his suffering.
During Holy Week, the choir will sing a song called “Pray One Hour.” It says,
Will you pray one hour with me,
For I fear what lies ahead.
I know that God will be with me,
But I need my friends nearby.
It reflects the story of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, asking his disciples to stay awake and pray with him, but it’s also our invitation, as friends of Jesus, to come and pray with him for just a very short while to honour the sacrifice he made for us.”
