Week of Jan. 20 – Jan. 26, 2025

FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK

From Luke, Chapter 4: “…a report about him spread through all the surrounding country.” It’s curious that a report is spreading…all he has done by this point (according to Luke, anyway) is be baptized by John! But now Jesus is quoting the prophet Isaiah. “And he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he began to say to them, ‘Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” You can cut the tension with a knife. Jesus is about to do something worthy of spreading reports!
