FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK
As we continue our journey through the book of Revelation, we’re jumping ahead by a mile: from chapter 7 last week we move now to chapter 21. The chapters in between have been what Dr. Joseph Mangina call ”a wild, Spirit-driven itinerary.” I hope you read those chapters, keeping in mind that the monsters and horrors that you’re reading about are symbols of the trials the early Christians were facing at the hands of the Roman Empire.
Through it all, Mangina reminds us, there have been three prevailing themes: 1) the sovereignty of Almighty God; 2) the victory that the Lamb has already won, both in itself and in the lives of believers; and 3) the community of faithful believers that never cease to sing praise and glory to God.
Now, as we look at the final two chapters of Revelation this Sunday and next, these three themes are going to converge into a glorious finish.
