Week of March 16 – March 22, 2026

FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK

This week we’ll wrap up our sermons series with the topic of Generosity. In Romans 12:8, the apostle Paul lists generosity as one of the Christian virtues, and it appears on many lists of Spiritual Gifts. Whenever I have done spiritual gift testing, I’m sad to say that generosity has often been my lowest score. True story. That’s been changing in recent years. As I’ve gotten older, I have been the recipient of so much Christian generosity, and it has changed my heart. I now find joy in showing generosity, whether it is supporting a cause close to my heart, or buying lunch for a friend.

Author Erik Rees defines the gift of generosity as, “the God-given special ability to serve and strengthen the body of Christ by joyfully supporting and funding various Kingdom initiatives through material contributions beyond the tithe.” I’ve seen over the past few months that many people in this congregation have this spiritual gift!
