Week of Sept. 15 – Sept. 21, 2025

FROM THE MINISTER’S DESK

I have always had a deep admiration for the Apostle Paul. I love the passion, energy, and humour in his letters, and I have always wished I could have his total fearlessness when it comes to sharing the Gospel. That’s why I am so excited about the trip we have planned to walk in the footsteps of Paul and the Apostle John through Turkey and Greece in October 2026!

In all of the excitement of this past Sunday, I forgot to remind you of the information session we have planned for this Sunday, September 21st, right after the worship service. Brian Watt from Christian Journeys will be with us to outline the complete itinerary and costs for the trip, and answer any questions you might have. Anyone can attend, whether a member of the church or not, and we will be accepting registrations on Sunday, but there is no obligation so anyone who is interested in hearing about the trip is welcome on Sunday.

So that we can have a sense of numbers, registration for Sunday would be appreciated: https://central-united-church-unionville.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/3073313

OCTOBER FOOD DRIVE

“Help Families in Need”

We are organizing a Food Drive this October to put smiles on the faces of some needy families.

Food donations (non-perishable only) can be dropped off at the church for the entire month of October.

Every little donation helps and is greatly appreciated. All items collected will be donated to our local food bank. Thank you all for your support and for giving to those in need!

SAMARITAN’S PURSE – Christmas Shoebox

This year we will once again be participating in the Samaritan’s Purse initiative as one of our Christmas Outreach events. You can participate by packaging a shoebox yourself or if you’d prefer Samaritan’s Purse to pack a box for you, you can do so with a $44.00 donation, just visit their website here. They also ask for a $12.00 donation per box which is applied towards collection, processing and international shipping.

Sunday, Oct. 5th is the official start date of the initiative and it will run for six weeks ending Sunday, November 16th. Shoeboxes, brochures and shopping lists are now available for pick up Sundays after church service or during the week. The church office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.

Let’s support this great initiative again this year to bring joy to a needy child. What a wonderful way to share Jesus’ love.

GIVING WITH PURPOSE AT

CENTRAL UNITED CHURCH

The Finance & Stewardship Committee would like to remind our congregation that your generosity can be directed in many meaningful ways. In addition to supporting the day-to-day operations of our Church, one may choose to designate donations to specific programs such as Music Ministry, Outreach, Christian Education, Small Groups, Children’s Church etc. etc….. or specific Capital Projects.

Every gift—no matter the size or focus—helps us grow in faith, serve our community, and sustain the ministries that matter most to you.

Thank you for your continued support and stewardship.

Big News! Central is launching a brand-new Children’s Church program—DIG IN—this September! DIG IN isn’t just another curriculum; it’s an exciting new way for kids to experience God’s Word. Through fun, hands-on activities, children will ask big questions, discover real answers, and see their faith come alive. It’s simple for teachers, thrilling for kids, and designed to inspire lasting heart change. We can’t wait to see how God will move as our children DIG IN!

Here’s how you can help:

  • Parents: Please register your child(ren) for our programs in advance here.

  • Grandparents: Please share this news with parents so they can authorize you to bring your grandchildren to our programs at Central.

Starting in September, children will not be admitted to our programs without proper parental or legal guardian consent.
